Fall 2010 Newsletter
As August rolls around and the days are gradually getting shorter, we have been busy getting ready for our fall classes at Quilting by the Yard. We have some new classes planned for you in fun projects and techniques. For the first time, we will be offering Jo Morton's Little Women's Club. More information about the Little Women's Club will be coming, so check back with us soon or call the shop to get the latest information.
There are still a few openings for our annual retreat. For those of you that have retreated with us in the past, we have some good news, the Cape Codder Resort is moving our group to the main ballroom on first floor! No more stairs or walking through the kitchen for the elevator! More information about the retreat is listed in our Classes section, or call the shop for prices on our retreat package.
Our latest Block of the Month is called Circle of Friends. It is a seven month BOM program made using 1930's fabrics by Marcus Brothers. The completed quilt measures 82"x 82" and the BOM includes all fabrics to complete the top and binding, plus a canvas tote bag for holding your project. Please call soon if you are interested in joining in on Circle of Friends!

Quilting by the Yard is proud to announce that we are participating in the One Million Pillowcase Challenge sponsored by American Patchwork and Quilting. Over 55,000 pillowcases have been collected across the country by participating quilt shops and their customers. The goal is to collect and donate one million pillowcases over the year! If you would like to participate in the One Million Pillowcase Challenge, please make a pillowcase with pre-washed fabrics suitable for a child and drop it off at Quilting by the Yard. We will be giving all donated pillowcases to either the ConKerr Cancer organization (pillowcases will be delivered to the Children's Medical Hospital in Hartford) or The Hole in the Wall Gang camp. If you would like to donate for the ConKerr Cancer organization, please wash the pillowcase when finished and place in a quart size ziplock bag for the protection of the oncology children.
To date, we have collected over 300 children's pillowcases and we would like to thank all those who have participated for their kindness. We will give you an update every month for all the collected pillowcases. ******************************************************************
Congratulations to Kathy Kray! Kathy is our August winner of a $25 gift certificate. If you have not already placed your name to win a $25 gift certificate, please enter it for a chance to win. You may enter your name every month. Each month we will pull another winner...the next winner could be you! Happy Quilting from your friends at Quilting by the Yard.
