Winter 2010 Newsletter
With all the hussle and bussle of the holiday season, it is amazing what we can accomplish! The classes are posted, there still may be a few additions so please check back again. The information about our annual Cape Cod Retreat is posted. For those of you that have retreated with us in the past, we have some good news, the Cape Codder Resort is moving our group to the main ballroom on first floor! No more stairs or walking through the kitchen for the elevator! Hope to see you all again in November, we are already taking deposits, so reserve your space soon. We are really excited about a lot of new projects starting. Check out the events page for The Civil War Tribute Block of the Month (if you are interested, please sign up soon, space is limited.) We also have a new BOM starting in either March or April called Back to Nature, made out of batiks. Please keep checking with us for price and when it will start for sure. The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, provides a unique camping and support group to children with cancer and other serious illnesses. Each summer, more than 1,000 children ranging from 7 to 15, attend camp free of charge. Many individuals and organizations help with fund raising and donations, and Quilting by the Yard has become involved by making Quilts for Campers. Over the winter months, we collected 12 1/2" blocks from many of you, and these blocks were assembled into quilts and donated this summer. We were able to donate 10 lap-sized quilts that were delivered to the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp and donated to campers! We would like to thank everyone that helped contribute with blocks or quilts. Our special friends, Gail, Al, and Mary, were especially busy sewing together all the donated blocks! We will continue to collect blocks during the year. If you would like to help, please consider donating a 12 ½” block made from pre-washed fabrics in bright colors using a block design of your choice. Please join us in our Quilts for Campers project.
